Japanese confectionery companies are preparing a new wave of seasonal chocolate products as the country moves into the autumn and winter chocolate season.

Glico has announced renewed versions of its seasonal Winter Kuchidoke Pocky and Winter Kirameki Pocky, with the products scheduled to go on sale in Japan from October 6, 2026.

The renewed Winter Kuchidoke Pocky places greater emphasis on cocoa flavour and a smooth chocolate melt, while Winter Kirameki Pocky has been reformulated to strengthen its caramel flavour. The products are positioned as limited seasonal offerings designed around flavours associated with winter.

The launches demonstrate how Japanese confectionery brands continue to use seasonal products to create new reasons for consumers to return to familiar chocolate brands.

Another example is Eikodo Holdings’ autumn-winter range for its chocolate brand Hitorijime Sweets. The company is increasing the size of several existing products while introducing two new products to the eight-product range.

Seasonality remains an important part of Japan’s confectionery culture, with companies frequently adapting flavours, packaging and product formats around particular times of the year.

Macao Cacao:
Macao Cacao continues to follow Japan’s distinctive chocolate market, where seasonal innovation and new product experiences continue to influence the wider confectionery industry.
