Mondelēz International is strengthening its position in the global snacking market after reporting improved third-quarter financial performance and announcing plans to acquire US snack brand Undercover Snacks.

The company, whose portfolio includes Cadbury, Toblerone and Oreo, reported a 2.3% increase in net revenue in the third quarter of 2026. Growth was supported primarily by higher sales volumes, indicating that consumers were purchasing more products.

Gross profit also increased by more than US$1.3 billion compared with the corresponding period, reflecting improved profitability.

Beyond its financial results, the planned acquisition of Undercover Snacks signals an important development in the company’s strategy.

Undercover is known for its chocolate-covered quinoa crisps and other snack products positioned around a balance of indulgence and better-for-you ingredients.

The move reflects a wider industry trend in which major confectionery manufacturers are expanding beyond traditional chocolate bars and sweets into snacks that appeal to consumers looking for different ways to enjoy treats.

Rather than abandoning indulgence, companies are exploring new formats, ingredients and product categories to attract a broader customer base.

Mondelēz has also reaffirmed its 2026 financial outlook despite continued uncertainty in commodity markets and operating costs.

The company’s latest results highlight how diversification, brand strength and product innovation are becoming increasingly important strategies for major confectionery businesses.
